Electric Vehicles - Drivers
What TripCity drivers need to know about renting and returning electric vehicles.
Charging Before Return
- Return the EV with the same battery level it had at pickup.
- If returned with less charge, the owner may charge an incidental fee to cover recharging costs.
Plan Charging Ahead
- Map out charging stations before your trip to avoid running low.
- Confirm with the owner which charging options and networks work best for that vehicle.
- Keep a charging app on hand (like ChargePoint) to locate compatible stations.
Know the Mileage Range
- Each EV has a different range depending on model and battery health.
- Review the vehicle listing carefully before booking.
- Confirm any range limits or restrictions directly with the owner to avoid range-related issues during the trip.
Best Practices
- Read the listing description to understand charging and range rules.
- Take photos of the vehicle’s charge level at pickup and return for reference.
- Return charging cables and adapters exactly as provided.
- Communicate with the owner immediately if you have vehicle issues, trouble charging, or locating a compatible station.
