Introduction to Tripcity -Drivers

This guide explains how TripCity works for drivers, what to expect, and what’s required before you take your first trip.

What TripCity Offers

  • Rentals for gig drivers (Uber, DoorDash, Instacart, etc.).

  • Rentals for personal use (errands, vacations, commuting).

  • All vehicles come with insurance, registration, and state-required inspections where applicable.

  • No rental counters, no hidden fees, everything is done online.

Gig Use

  • Book vehicles set up for rideshare and delivery.

  • Insurance and registration documents are provided for upload into apps.

  • Daily rental fee:

    • $26/day in AZ, CA, DC, FL, GA, IL, MD, TX

    • $36/day as of Aug 11, 2025 in CT, NV, NJ, PA, VA, WA.

Personal Use

  • Lower daily fee, typically $20/day.

  • Designed for short-term personal trips.

  • Insurance included with every booking.

How the Process Works

  1. Sign up: Create an account, upload your license, and complete background verification.

  2. Search vehicles: Filter by location, price, mileage, and features.

  3. Book: A hold is placed on your card. Once approved, the payment is processed.

  4. Pick up: Coordinate directly with the owner for time and place.

  5. Drive: Your documents (insurance, registration, inspection if required) are stored in your TripCity dashboard.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 or older with a valid driver’s license. We do not accept international, permit, temporary, or paper licenses.

  • Must pay with a valid debit or credit card.

  • Must maintain a clean driving record.

  • For gig rentals, you must connect your active rideshare or delivery account.

Common Questions

Do I need my own insurance?
No. TripCity insurance applies during your rental.

Is a deposit required?
Tripcity doesn't not have a deposit, however, the owner might impose one themselves. Please check their listing description for additional information.

When do I get documents?
Insurance and registration are available in your dashboard after booking is approved.

Can someone else drive the car?
No. Only the approved renter on the rental agreement is allowed to drive.

What if I’m late returning the car?
Contact the owner as soon as possible. Late fees may apply.

Can I use the same rental for both personal and gig use?
No. Book separately depending on how you plan to drive.

What if there’s an accident?
Notify the owner immediately, take photos, and file a police report.

Can I use the vehicle out of state?
Please communicate directly with the owner of the vehicle as most vehicles have mileage restrictions.

Do you have an app?
No, we are web based.

Tips for a Smooth Experience

  • Stay in constant communication with the owner. 

  • Keep vehicles clean and return them on time.

  • Do not let anyone else drive the vehicle. Only the individual on the rental agreement is allowed to drive.

  • At the end of your rental, leave the owner a review.
