Owner Responsibilities

Vehicle Maintenance and Upkeep for Owners

Owner Responsibilities

As a TripCity owner, you are responsible for keeping your vehicle in safe, reliable, and rental-ready condition. This includes:

  • Performing regular maintenance: oil changes, tire rotations, brake checks, and manufacturer-recommended servicing.
  • Ensuring the vehicle is roadworthy before each rental.
  • Keeping all registration, inspections, and insurance documents valid and current.
  • Providing a clean vehicle inside and out at pickup.

Mechanical and Safety Standards

  • Vehicles must start, drive, and stop without issue.
  • Lights, mirrors, wipers, and seatbelts must work correctly.
  • Tires must have safe tread depth and correct pressure.
  • No major dashboard warning lights should be present.

Cosmetic Condition

  • Vehicles must be free from excessive cosmetic damage.
  • Minor scratches or dents are acceptable but must be documented in listing photos and included in listing descriptions.
  • Interiors must be clean, odor-free, and free of clutter.

During Active Rentals

  • If a mechanical issue arises during a rental, the owner is responsible for resolving it.
  • Solutions may include:
    • Offering the renter a replacement vehicle.
    • Providing an approved refund if no replacement is available.
  • Owners must contact TripCity to update the account for any approved adjustments.

Maintenance Records

  • Keep records of oil changes, inspections, and repairs.
  • Be ready to provide documentation if a renter disputes vehicle conditions.
  • Good records protect you during claims and disputes.

Platform Compliance

  • TripCity monitors vehicle standards.
  • If you fail to maintain your vehicle, TripCity may send warnings. Continued non-compliance may result in your account being restricted or permanently banned from the platform.
  • Owners are expected to maintain a positive review rating between 4–5 stars after each rental. Repeated poor reviews may also result in account restrictions or removal.

Quick Tips for Success

  • Inspect your vehicle before every rental: check tires, lights, fluids, fuel, and cleanliness.
  • Keep vehicles clean and well-maintained for positive reviews.
  • Respond quickly to renter concerns and resolve issues professionally.
