Personal Belongings

What happens if a driver forgets items in a TripCity vehicle after the rental ends.

TripCity Policy

  • TripCity is not responsible for any personal belongings left in a rental vehicle.
  • Drivers are expected to check the vehicle carefully at drop-off and remove all items.
  • Owners are required to return forgotten items, though they may choose to do so at their discretion.

If You Are a Driver

  • Before ending your rental, check:
    • Seats (front and back)
    • Trunk or storage areas
    • Glove compartment and door pockets

  • If you realize you forgot something after returning the vehicle:
    • Contact the owner directly through the TripCity chat feature.
    • Be respectful and clear about the item(s) you left behind.
    • Arrange a mutually convenient way to collect them, if the owner agrees.

If You Are an Owner

  • You are required to return personal belongings left in your vehicle.
  • If you choose to return items, coordinate directly with the driver.
  • You may arrange pickup or mailing at your discretion, but this is outside of TripCity’s coverage.

Best Practices

  • For drivers: double-check the car before returning it.
  • For owners: inspect the vehicle at check-out and note if anything was left behind.
  • Use the TripCity chat to document communications in case disputes arise.
