Reporting an Accident - Owner
How to file a claim, what’s covered, deductibles, and documentation required.
Filing a Claim
- Collect timestamped photos of the vehicle before and after the trip.
- Communicate with your driver and collect any pertinent details of the incident (ex: brief description of the incident, city, date, time, police report number).
- Email all the information and documentation to claims@tripcity.com.

Claim Requirements
- Photos must show all four corners of the vehicle before and after the trip.
- Pre-trip photos must capture the side of the vehicle where damages are claimed.
- Damage must be reported within 3 days of vehicle return.
- A police report is required if filing for theft or vandalism.
- Claims without proper documentation may be denied.
What’s Covered
- Accidents / Collisions – Damage caused by a renter in a covered accident.
- Theft – Vehicle theft with a valid police report.
- Vandalism – Intentional third-party damage, with a valid police report.
Deductibles (Owner Responsibility)
- $2,500 deductible if the vehicle’s value is $55,000 or less.
- $5,000 deductible if the vehicle’s value is more than $55,000.
- Deductibles are subtracted from any approved payout.
- You cannot apply the deductible to the driver.
What’s Not Covered
- Normal Wear & Tear – tire tread wear, brake pads, cosmetic scratches.
- Tire Damage – flats, blowouts, or punctures unless tied to a covered accident, theft, or vandalism.
- Windows & Windshields – chips or cracks unless caused by a covered accident, theft, or vandalism.
- Electrical & Mechanical Issues – malfunctions not directly caused by a collision.
- Undercarriage Damage – unless directly caused by an accident/collision.
- Renter Negligence – careless damage not tied to an accident. Owners may pursue renters directly.
